The Public Housing Capital Fund - Formula & Competitive
The Illinois Housing Development Authority’s involvement in this program is strictly advisory.
The Public Housing Capital Fund provides funds for the capital and management activities of Public Housing Agencies (PHA) as authorized under Section 9 of the United States Housing Act of 1937 (42 U.S.C. 1437g) (the "Act"), including modernization and development of public housing. The funds cannot be used for operations or rental assistance.
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) will allocate grants through two separate application processes: formula and competitive.
For COMPETITIVE applicants:
- HUD is expected to obligate 100 percent of funds to grantees by 9/30/2009
For FORMULA Grants:
- Grantees shall obligate 100 percent of funds by 3/17/2010
- Grantees shall expend 60 percent of funds by 3/17/2011 and 100 percent by 3/17/2012
