The Illinois Housing Development Authority’s involvement in this program is strictly advisory.
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) provides $2 billion nationally (more than $103 million for Illinois) in supplemental funding to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to fund contract renewals under its preexisting Section 8 Project-Based Rental Assistance program.
The program provides rental subsidies for eligible families and individuals residing in “project-based” units that are assigned the subsidy by HUD for a contractually determined period. HUD estimates approximately 6,300 existing contracts will be funded using the ARRA funds, of which approximately 236 contracts will be in Illinois.
PLEASE NOTE: The Project-Based Rental Assistance Program is administered by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). See this LINK for more program details.
